just built computer and have a couple of problems

i just built a computer out of old parts that i had and i got everything together and when o start the computer the disk drives wont work or the monitor wont turn on.

does anyone know what my problem could be?

Could be one small thing or EVER piece of hardware you've used. Did you test the parts before putting everything together - are you sure they all worked prior? Have you reset the CMOS battery? What are you using for all your parts - MB/RAM/CPU/Video/Hard drive/Monitor?
