Internet Connection

I'm not exactly sure where this should go, as I'm not sure whether it is a hardware or a software problem. I recently bought a laptop, and set it up immeadiately with the wireless network. Now, the internal wireless card is incredibly crappy, and since it is the computer I use for raiding in WoW, I want to connect it to the internet via a wired connection to reduce the chance of a d/c. However, when I connect the cable to the computer, it still does not recognize that there is a connection available (I turned off the wirelss connection at this point). Can anyone help me with this? It has seemed to stump every one I know.

Is your LAN enabled?
Did you set up your TCP/IP Properties?

Wow I'm a dunce. I didn't realize in the corner of my desktop there is a button to set up how your computer connects to the internet (wired or wireless). Thanks for your help though!
