I just built a new computer and for some reason windows seems to think that all my sata drives (2 hdds and i optical - all sata) are removable drives.

I don't think this is normal and would like to make sure this isn't affecting performance.

I also think that my second hard drive is somehow slowing down my computer.

Here are my specs:

mobo: gigabyte m57sli-s4
hdd1: seagate 320gb SATA (boot)
hdd2: western digital 500gb SATA
optical drive: samsung dvd burner SATA

for some reason it feels like windows is way faster when only the seagate drive is enabled.

thanks in advance.

*EDIT sorry they are not recognized as removable. But they all ARE listed under the "safely remove hardware" icon on the taskbar. I would like not to see them there...it's just annoying. But I am still worried about the possible effect on performance caused by the second drive.

Can someone suggest some software to test the performace of the drives?

Sata drives are hot swappable, and sometimes are seen as removable drives. Luckily i dont have this issue on my machine, but i have seen others have it. Its nothing to worry about.
