I recently salvaged a 100gb IDE drive from an old computer. It has windows and various other programs on it. I would like to install it in my newer computer that has an SATA drive, and wipe it clean. How would I go about doing this?

i've seen boards with both sata and ide ports. if this is true in your situation, i say plug 'em in and let 'em fly. make sure the jumpers are correct.

otherwise, i think you'd need to buy a ide controller card.

Just like OP said, a lot of MB still have an IDE controller on it, plug it in and if it is a windows format your computer will see it. Format it and whala. If you don't have an IDE controller just purchase one that will fit in your PCI slot on the MB.
