installed new video card now boots to black screen

i had onboard video and i just put in a new video card and i hear it boot up to the desktop but my monitor stay a black screen. before i put thecard in idisabled the onboard video in BIOS then put the card in. can i get some suggestions on where i can start to fix this problem . thx

Did you move the monitor cable from the on-board connector to the video card connector.

Try and see if you could boot into safe mode and install drivers from there or boot into vga mode. To access either mode press F8 while pc is booting.

sounds like you need to either turn off the onboard video in bios or login with it on the onboard and set the new card as primary. I suggest the bios off way, since it resolves it for all time.

But, I would try just enabling it again, see if you get any response from either one.

I never disabled my on-board video when installing my video card...never had any problems. Try keeping on-board on like mindovermasters said
