I want to boot dos from a disk and install firmware on a hard drive.

Hi,

I am trying to see if i can fix my old 604 archos by putting the HD in an old laptop and running a boot disk and installing the firmware on it. Could someone tell me how i would go about making a boot disk for DOS (if thats what i need to do what i want to do) and the commands for installing files from the disk to the HD? Thanks

I also want to format the drive before i install the firmware.

Hey, follow this link and steps and that should help you make your first DOS 6.22 boot disk.
How to create a floppy boot disk in Windows

For your other question once you get hooked up and working properly, depenind on the size and partition of the hdd.
If it's more than 15gbs give it a NTFS format.
