Default I cant get my DVI to work, please help

I have a BFG 6600GT and for some reason I cant get DVI connection to work only the VGA mode, I used the same monitor and the same cable and I plug it in to my friends comp and it work just fine for DVI, How do I fix this?

sounds as though the port may be dead, do you absolutely have to use the DVI port? cause if you dont VGA will work perfectly untill you get a new computer or video card (which ever comes first)

Sometimes you have to turn the port on in your video card's config. On my ATi Radeon X1600, you use the Catalyst control panel. You might want to plug in a VGA monitor as well so that you can see when you change to the DVI port. On my old nVidia card (didn't have DVI) to change monitor you used the Windows properties box or nView Display Manager.
