if we have a server with 2 dual core processor and if hyperthreading is enabled.. how many processors will the OS list in the system properties window ????

It will show 8 cores in task manager and the O/S will recognize it as 8. Notice that the license for Windows is for 2cpu's. This goes by how may physical CPU's you have and in this case, you only have 2 :p

XP Home Edition doesn't support dual-CPU. Keep that in mind when building a system.

I would like to add this to your comment,

Don't confuse Dual CPU with Dual Core CPU. XP Home will support Dual Core, not Dual Processor.

Yes, and it also supports HT.

so if you had a system for say, with 4 physical cpu's, you'd have to have liscences for the other 2 cpu's?

i think someone took the term "cpu" out of context on how microsoft means in the EULA.
