HSF & CPU Removal.

I was taking apart my new system.. Bad mobo (long story) and When I was removing the heatsink, I unscrewed the bracket, so all that was holding it on was the thermal paste so I started to take it off, and I heard this suction release noise so I thought it was coming off then it comes out but attached to it was the processor..........

Now I didn't raise the Zif connector. I'm getting a new mobo so the connector doesnt matter, but do you think that damaged the processor at all? And what is the best way to remove all the thermal paste from it? THANKS

Use rubbing alcohol with a lint free cloth.

You can use a credit card to push it off.

proccesor should be fine. goof off also works great for removal of thermal paste.
