Angry HP dvd840 DVD Writer Drive help

Just bought an HP dvd840 DVD Writer. I have an older one that won't read DVD's, that's why I need this one to work. The other night I bought this drive to install City of Heroes. So I hook it up just piddling around and I finally get it to work. So yesterday I come home to a crashed pc. I put a new hard drive in and reinstalled windows. Now, my pc doesnt detect my new drive....at all. But, it detects my old one just fine. It came with Nero OEM Suite which installed and still no luck. I've been havin some very frustrating luck with this machine. Can someone please help?
