Am I reading this right? You too a hdd w/ an os from your old pc and put it in another one? And it don't work. You need to completely reformat and install os for it to function correctly.
HP cannot read HDD...

I have had similar issues. I pulled a 40 gb HDD out of a 1.5 Emachine Running XP. Tried to transfer it to an 1.5 HP and i could not get it to boot to the OS. Tried all the different jumper settings and the pc would not boot. got the same black screen with the ctrl-alt-del message. couldnt figure this out....does anyone know???
