I have an HP G62 Notebook PC with 4GB of RAM, an AMD Turion II Processor, and an ATI Mobility Radeon HD 4200, and I'm running Windows 7. The other day I booted up the laptop and found that it was using my external display and not the LCD or both. I did a hard reset 3 times, updated my graphics driver, and checked the backlight. All to no avail. I think of myself as being somewhat knowledgeable about computers but this has me stumped. Under display settings, the laptop doesn't even detect the LCD screen and just bring up the external display as PnP Generic Monitor. Any suggestions?

I smell a loose connection. Have you ever opened it up?
Last time I needed to open it up was to replace the LCD and that was months ago. My set of screwdrivers that I need are currently on loan so I guess that I'll have to open it up when I get the chance. I figured that that's probably what it is, but I'm shopping for other opinions just in case.
