how to Shut Laptop w/out Standby

Dumb question: my friend has a Dell Latitude D520 laptop. She uses a secondary monitor and peripherals. How can she close the laptop without it going into standby?

Have you looked around in the Power options within the control Panel.

Im also pretty sure that the manufacture has its own power managment program so look for that also.

(Both should be found in control panel)

yeah go into power options in control pannel. there you can tell it what you want it to do when it is closed. That way you do not have to have it open when using another monitor.
