idiotec Fully Optimized Messages 1,746 Jan 23, 2006 #2 I am guessing you are trying to format your windows partition from widows, yeah, that won't work. You need either a bootable flopy, or if you just have a bootable version of XP, you can format from that as well.

J Juice Daddy Fully Optimized Messages 1,706 Jan 23, 2006 #3 you cannot format a hard drive that you are currently running windows on and trying to format.... it has to be a secondary drive, or format it through dos... or durring the windows install... why would you want to format the hard drive with your operating system anyway?
