Default How to Format Hardrive

hey how do you format a hardrive?

when i try to format my hardrive it say s it cant because it contains files that is used by windows...how do i take care of the problem?

I am guessing you are trying to format your windows partition from widows, yeah, that won't work.

You need either a bootable flopy, or if you just have a bootable version of XP, you can format from that as well.

you cannot format a hard drive that you are currently running windows on and trying to format....

it has to be a secondary drive, or format it through dos... or durring the windows install...

why would you want to format the hard drive with your operating system anyway?

Ok i put in my bootable flooopy for Windows 98...Now what? i dont kno w what do to. do i go to ms-dos and then type in format.com or ...what?....when i got to the help files the words scramble....and turn into giberish

format c: (or whatever your hard drive is)
