Default Himem.sys has Detected Unreliable XMS

This is the ol' google turned up, and pretty much told me what I thought in the first place.

Bad memory? This is a refurbished Dell Optiplex GX-1 (not a home computer). We have about 100 of these, and every so often we run into problems but this one is pretty new. We've tried switching out memory sticks, testing to see if one slot on the MoBo was bad, etc. but we're still getting ocassional error messages and ocassional functionality, like nothing's wrong with it. Might this be a fried motherboard, or maybe just a need to reformat?

*\'Failure\' is not a four-letter word.

try testing the memory with memtest86

you put it onto a floppy disk, boot up with the floppy in, and it will run memtest

if you get errors, you know it's bad RAM
if not, you know it's a problem with Windows.
