High pitched tone

Hey all. Every so often my computer will start emitting a high pitched tone and everthing slows right down. It seem to happen mostly when I am gaming but does happen other times too. I then have to reboot. It seems to happen more in hot weather. Does this sound like an overheating prob or something else? Any ideas on what to do? Thanks

It is most likely a temperature alarm. Are you able to open up your case? There's a good chance that dust is your problem.
