Default High cpu usage

my cpu usage just when it sits there and does nothing can be as high as 100% system usage anyone know why its doing this?

Do you have SETI or F@H.
How Many running Processers do you have?
Post a Hijackthis Log.

I had the same problem, in the end i found that it was best just to reinstall windows. That sorted it out, i think i had some virus.

Post a screenprint/name the processes that are causing the high CPU usage.

the only process that sucks up all the usage is the system process not the system idle mind you

is it reading it wrong because its dual core or something?

plus i cant even update my bios it just freezes windows and i have to restart the cpu.

Only think I see is norton "Possibly" Taking up alot of RAM/CPU.

Also, Update Windows, all SP's.

Maybe unistall Norton and see if this frees up some CPU %.

Try knocking out as many unneeded entries in the startup folder as you can.

And if all else fails Reformat time. I keep my PC In top shape, but theres nothing like a fresh Format and Install.
