hibernate

hi all i just joined tech forums and hope this is the right section for advice regarding my hibernate function.
i have a sony vaio and if i close the computer with 'hibernate mode' it wakes me up at 3 am and as it's in our bedroom causes me no end of sleepless nights!
is there a way of setting this function to come on when i want-i've been to control panel and then to 'power options' which tells me what the hibernate feature does but not how to set the time for the computer to switch on.
i have no scheduled tasks set to perform at 3am such as virus check etc so i am at a loss as to why this is happening!
would the same thing happen if i put it in stand-by mode?
thanking anyone in advance for any help as to turn on the computer manually takes quite a while i'd rather use the hibernate function. regards ardbrandt

Hello,

Is this a Vista PC or a XP PC? At 3AM is when most of the Windows Updates are automatically installed. So you would have to turn that feature off as that is what is most likely causeing the PC to turn on at that time.

Either that or turn off the monitor. If it is a laptop. Close the lid.
