Angry Here is a wEirD one for you.

Okay, my problem is that enytime my DVD rom reads a cd/dvd... my computer locks up or restarts.

My computer runs perfectly fine (kinda) if i have no disc in my dvd drive... but once i put one in... and once it starts reading it... my computer will lock up or crash or reboot...

And if i have a CD in my drive while booting windows... (Since windows always checks your roms on boot up) my comp restarts before getting into windows... Again... my computer boots fine if my dvd rom is open on boot up. But even when my drive is empty... every time the computer checks the drive for somthing... it lags terribly...

And... all the games i play must have the cd in to play... so, i suddenly cannot play my games enymore.

Heeeeelllllpppp meeeeee

BTW: IT IS NOT A PROBLEM WITH MY DVD ROM, I KNOW BECAUSE I REPLACED IT WITH MY OTHER CD ROM I HAVE AND I STILL GET THE SAME PROBLEM....
(My system specs)

Intel Pentium 3.2 GHz w/HT (Prescott)
ATI X850XT
2 GB of DDR RAM
Windows XP SP2
1 40 GB Hardrive
1 80 GB Hardrive
Asus P4P800 - DLX Mobo ... or somthin

Thanks in advance.

Do you have windows xp with service pack 2?

have you tried replacing the IDE cable?

is it in a master, slave config with any other drives?

Have you tried updating its drivers?

Updating motherboard drivers?
