Good morning,

I recently purchased the following components of, what I hope, will be a very good Media Center PC and was disappointed to experience, what I assume, is a resolution incompatibility. Here are the components I am working with:

Sony VAIO VGC-RA940GN9
mobo = Intel 945P Chipset
OS = Microsoft Media Center Edition 2005 (Update 2)
processor = Intel Pentium D Processor 820 (Dual-Core)
processor speed = 2.8 GHz
RAM installed = 2.0GB PC-4200 Cual Channel DDR2 RAM
memory configuration = (4) 512MB DIMM
hard drive = 400GB
multimedia drives = 16x DVD-Rom and 6x DVD+R
video card = nVidia 6600
TV Tuner = GigaPocket MPEG2 Realtime Encoder Board with TV Tuner (NTSC)
DVI-D Port

Sharp Aquos LC32DA5U Widescreen 32" HD-Ready LCD TV
4 selectable viewing modes
Wide XGA (1366 x 768 pixels) resolution supports 720p signals
Input: HDMI

Monster Cable 8' HDMI-to-DVI Video Cable (Model U2 V800HDM)

Logitech Z5500 5.1 Speakers

Basically, the desktop won't "fit" on the Sharp monitor and fiddling with the Desktop Properties in Windows didn't really help. Some of the icons are not visible on the screen. Because of the number of resolution combinations available on both the Sharp and in Windows, I have to think that there is something that should work. Does it appear that the image "cropping" is the result of the computer or the monitor? Any help would be greatly appreciated! Thanks.
