Default Help me choose monitor

Ive finally decided to ditch my 1994 monitor and go lcd, but im having some trouble choosing an LCD monitor because I've got a hard time telling why some cost so much and some so little even though some of the lesser priced ones seem better (for the same size).

The one I think is best is this:

http://www.tigerdirect.com/applicati...0749&CatId=167

the other one that im looking at is:

http://www.tigerdirect.com/applicati...337730&CatId=0

What I cant figure out is why are some monitors priced so much more on tigerdirect even though they have worse contrast ratios and response times? Is there something I'm missing that makes either one of these inferior to other monitors? I'm thinking the ACER one because it has a good contrast ratio, and a slightly better response time. Can anyone shed some light on what I should purchase in terms on a gaming LCD monitor?

-Also how do LCD monitors look when they do other resolutions other then their native ones? Because I plan on playing games like doom, FEAR, half life, counterstrike not on 1280x1024 but probably on 800x600 or 1024x768.

I am a bastard about image quality and can really notice small things which will drive me crazy. Image tearing really bugs me so I dont want any of that, or any ghosting.

The most important thing about a moniter is the warranty, some of the moniters they make nowadays are junk and they'll burn out or get screwed up in a couple of months. Always make sure you get a moniter that has a 3 year warranty. If it says 90 day warranty then on the 91st day it will die on you. Its not worth spending 100 dollars less on a moniter that will last only a few monthes.

Another monitor I saw while searching was this one:

http://www.tigerdirect.com/applicati...470953&CatId=0

It has a lower response time but it also has a lower contrast ratio then the Acer one. What will make more of an impact? Would it really be a noticable difference from 6 ms to 3 ms time in terms of ghosts?
