I just received my Seagate 300gb HD from amazon.

I opened up my computer only to find out that there was not other bay/case for this new hard drive.

As i watched the videos that came in the CD, it mentioned that i could use a spacer bracket kit so i can put the hard drive where a CD or DVD player would go into.

The problem is i don't know what that is. :/

I'm new to hardware stuff, this being the first time i open up my PC.

My questions are: Is it possible to transfer everything from my old HD to my new one without having the hard drive inside the computer?

(i.e open the computer, connect the cords and transfer to the new hard drive while it sits on the table.)

or

What is a spacer bracket kit, how much does it cost and at what store can i find this kit?

Yea sure you can just connect the hard drive up but it's recommended that you don't move it or disturb it while it's connected and transfering.

This is what you're looking for http://www.directron.com/mis-kit-hd.html

I'm pretty sure you can find it at your local computer hardware store or CompUSA.

Ok sweet, i don't want to risk moving it accidently or anything like that, i'll go see if i can buy that tomarrow.

Thanks man :p
