Help. I backed up my files to a write protected disk

I decided I needed to completely format my hard drive. I took my files containing word documents, tax records, mps's and most importantly...all of my family photos. About 800 of my family photos are on this DVD+RW disk and it is now the only copy I have. I was able to copy my tax records and word documents to "My Documents" folder. However, when trying to copy over my valuable photos to "My Pictures" folder, it tells me that these are READ ONLY or WRITE PROTECTED files. Please tell me there is a way to get these photos back to my hard drive. Thank you for any help and/or advice you may give.

How are you trying to transfer the files? It should allow you to copy them, or at least open them and then save them to your computer.
