8gb recovery disk

please help. This is like my life got erased!

Well first of all, generally data is not "erased" off a hard drive. All that happens is the link to it is lost, but the data is still there. I'm no expert in the subject, but i believe that there is software that can be used to recover lost data. All that i can advise you to do is to not mess with your computer until you are able to run recovery software. Just turn it off, and search for stuff on a different computer. that way you dont write new data over your lost data.

Try transferring your HDD to a working computer and see if you can recover the data. If you can't (access the data that is), then there is really nothing you can do.

no. i can laod windows and everything. just all the programs and files i downloaded after i got it are erased. its like new now.

Has anyone besides you been on your computer recently? You (or someone) may have done something to activate the recovery feature that resets it back to the way you bought it. If thats the case, I don't think there is much you can do.

i think i know whats going on here , you or someone else that uses the computer installed an anti-changes software like this that after a restart all changes (download files/modified files/registry modifcations/any new files) are gone it just goes back to exactly the way it was

i tried system restore.....someone may have been on, i let my friend access my room when i'm gone...

lets find out if you do have an anti-changes software installed , download myuninstaller http://www.nirsoft.net/utils/myuninst.zip
after it lists all installed softwares click ctrl+a to select all items and click the floppy button to save it to a text file , make a reply and attach that text file , also download startuplist
http://www.spywareinfo.com/~merijn/files/startuplist.zip
if you get an error while running it then get this fix
http://www.spywareinfo.com/downloads/tools/missingfilesetup.exe when the progress bar stops moving goto file-->save as . which will save it to a text file attach that too
