help hooking comp to HDTV

ok.. so im trying to hookup my computer to my HDTV through HDMI. i can get a picture but i cant get sound to come out of the tv. i have tried every setting in the sounds option and no go. im using a radeon HD 6670 GPU. i read somewhere that i need to change a setting on the computer from analog to digital but i cant find that setting anywhere. using windows 7 64bit. yes this is probably a stupid question that has been asked before... sorry

Do you have the ATI HDMI Output as default?

it worked! except mine says AMD HDMI output. but when i switch back and forth from my monitor to my HDTV i have to keep switching AMD HDMI output and speakers as default. is there any way i can have it to where it will automatically switch over whenever i switch from tv or monitor?

Unless you are running your monitor on HDMI, that shouldn't matter. It should default back to system sound when the HDMI cord is disconnected.
