Default Help! Hard disk not booting!

I'm panicking. I hope this is simple that I can fix before my boss notices.

My computer boots up as normal, but right before it would usually boot windows, it instead makes a system click and restarts. I can run this boot disk from CD
http://www.memtest.org/download/1.6...6+-1.65.iso.zip
and run tests on the hard drive, and the tests all run fine. I've tried rewriting the MBR to the disk. And ideas?

Dan

since the memtest went fine might be a virus on the HD causing it to reboot

pull out the HD and plug it to another computer and run an anti-virus program to clean up the HD

doubt it
I'd say it's more likely a hardware issue, or it's BSODing really quickly just when it starts to load windows

I agree. It definitley sounds to me like a hardware-related hard drive problem.

Any ideas why it would scan fine but be a hardware problem?

"try a repair-install of Windows"

Takes forever to get it back to normal after a repair.

Can you boot into safe mode or last known good?

Doesn't go to the boot screen. The second it touches the hard drive, it restarts. Unfortunately, it's impossible to tell how far it's gone in that second.
