Help flash HP dv9408 bios from thumbdrive

I have the for mentioned computer, one day it just froze and I imagine the bios got corrupted. the leds power on but just keeps restarting without entering boot. I have a thumbdrive, I have downloaded the newest bios and I am trying to flash my bios to make my computer work again. Am I following the right steps so far and where do I go from here

I would not jump to the conclusion that the BIOS needs to be flashed just yet. At exactly what point does the computer stop booting? Can you see any screens, or logos at all? Does it reach a certain point and then freeze, or reboot, or what happens? Do you hear any beeps from the computer at all? Did you recently make any hardware or software upgrades? Please try to be very specific.

Yea, if you have made no hardware changes recently I would be very reluctant to touch the BIOS. If anything it sounds like an OS issue. Please respond to all of Jorosoft's questions before proceeding.
