Help!! Crashed

I tried to download 3DMark. Now Desktop will not start. I get a 'disk read error' and cannot start Got anything?? Tnks

You could try booting Ubuntu or another OS from a live CD/USB and delete it...

Just downloading 3DMark, or even installing it, has nothing to do with the computer not starting. Unless you downloaded and installed a infected file from an unreliable location. Or your hard drive has insufficient space. Have you tried starting in Safe Mode?

It sounds like a hard drive malfunction to me.

I tried booting from a boot disk. I get a blank screen with a cursor and that is all. It goes thru the process of loading files and such but I wind up with the blank screen. I can move the cursor around but that is it. thanks

Update: Trying a restore. Be awhile.

I agree, sounds like the hard drive...if your restore works you better get those files backed up pronto

Sorry for the dbl. I think it is the hard drive also. Wish I had one laying around. Was planning on using it this weekend. Thanks
