So I built this computer about a month ago. One of my original concerns is that I will be taking it to a dorm next month, and I like to leave my computer on all the time, so I want it to be quiet...
I had heard that a larger fan will keep noise levels down, because it won't have to spin as fast... thus I got the Antec 900
Antec 900
GA-EP35-DS3R
Intel Q6600
Xigmatek HDT-S1283 120mm Rifle
eVGA 8800GT
4GB G.SkiLL
Xigmatek 650W PSU
Seagate 7200.11
When I was putting it together, the case fans had little switches on them to adjust the fan speeds. I put them all to low. (i think there were 3 of them)
The fans are loud... my friend has a very similar computer: same case, same mobo, same gpu, same cpu (diff cpu cooler)... his is pretty quiet
So I downloaded this SpeedFan program... I couldn't really get it to adjust the fan speeds.
What can I do to quiet this down? I think my temps are pretty good, but I was hoping it wouldn't be this loud... especially while it's sleeping
Comments? Suggestions? Thoughts of wisdom?
Any help would be appreciated.
Thanks!
