hey all, here's my specs:
motherboard: asus a7v880
CPU: AMD Sempron 2800+ 2 GHz
RAM: 2048 MB (1024 x 2) DDR DIMM
Audio: Internal
Video Card: nVidia GeForce FX5500 AGP
i think my problem is with my video card/motherboard compatibility. if i have the video card's driver enabled, then right when windows loads up, it goes straight to stand-by mode, and when i have the driver disabled, it loads up normally, but i can't burn cd's or dvd's and i can't play dvd's either. i sent it in and got it fixed about 6-8 months ago, and it worked fine. but then my computer got real sluggish and took forever to do normal tasks, so i formatted the hard drive and started from scratch, but now it's having the same problems, so it's not a hardware problem. i tried to ask the guy who repaired it what he did, but he didn't remember. i don't know if there's some sort of patch out there or some programming i have to do, but if anyone has any ideas on how to fix it, i would love to hear it. thanks all!
jace
ps
i've tried downloading all of the latest driver firmware for it too, and it didn't solve anything. thanks again!
