Alright so I re-formatted my PC today, and when it's back up and running the headset I have plugged into the back panel (3.5 mm jack) doesn't work. He sound or mic. It doesn't work because the computer isn't even recognizing it as a device. When I go to sound in control panel no devices show up. Restarting the computer did nothing, and plugging it into the front didn't work either.

What should I do?

1) What OS is this? XP, Vista, 7?
2) Have you installed your motherboard's sound drivers?
3) If not, what motherboard do you have, if you know?

It's vista 64bit

No I haven't installed my motherboards sound drivers but do they uninstall when re-formatting?

I'll have to open her up to see....
Gimme a moment.

If you reformat, everything on that drive is lost - everything, including drivers.

It's a PCI-Express x16

I also keep getting blue screens too... ****.

Should I just clean install again? Or post another thread about that?

PCI-Express x16 is a bus in the motherboard, not your actual motherboard ;) If this computer is a pre-built, what's the make + model? I probably should have asked that first.

It wasn't pre-built it's a custom computer I've had for a couple years so I can't tell you the make and model. I'll just have to open her up I guess.
