Headphones not detected on laptop.

Hello, I have a win7 laptop and I recently bought some new headphones but when I connected it to the laptop, the laptop didn't detect anything! I know that the headphones work because it works on my psp but not my laptop. I tried that solution to go into 'services' and set 'windows audio' to automatic but it didnt work because it already was automatic! When I plug in my device when device manager is open, it doesnt do anything! Any help would be great!!!!

Do other headphones work on your laptop?

Some basic things to check that can get overlooked are to make sure your volume isn't muted and make sure the headphone plug is inserted completely into the jack.
