HDD Problem

I have a weird hard drive problem, I have a 1gb Samsung drive which works just fine, when I plug in a maxtor drive alongside it it does not show in bios and linux/xp cannot see it - however if I then unplug the samsung the maxtor appears in bios.... Powermax cant find it, but I have successfully installed linux onto it - I plug the samsung back in and the maxtor disapears. This is with not changing any sata ports just simply plugging in and unplugging the sata power cable from the drive.

Whats going on?

Well first you need to try switching ports, cables and the basics. Until that is tried we cant give you any real input. It could just be a bad cable for all we know.
