ok, different question. *I'm about 10% of the way done recovering files* when I'm done with this, to put the recovered data onto my HDD, just wipe, reformat, and move the files to it right? *I'll worry about sorting the tremendous amount of data later*

I like File Scavenger for file recovery and Acronis Disk Director for partition recovery. These programs saved me grief many times.

You'll stand a better chance of recovering your files in their original folders with better software. I'd leave that corrupted partition as is until you are 100% sure you have everything you need.

ty, and I can't continue running the recovery, the HDD I'm working off of isn't big enough, have to wait till I get another drive to back up to

You're going to need this too. I've tested it and it works like a charm. You'll just need to recover the uncorrupted registry files from your hosed drive.
