Hello All, can anyone tell me if the indexing service is a resource hog or in any way will slow down the PC? I have two PC's that both have it enabled, one PC is more of a file server then anything else but my main PC is just for some net surfing and gaming. Should I disable this indexing service from my HDD for better performace? I'm using the 250GB drive in my sig.

Any general info on this service is appreciated, thanks!

I've always read/heard/been taught that the indexing service does more harm (to performance) than benefit anything. I would just keep it turned off.

I've found that while the service is turned off, searching for files is reasonably fast anyways, as long as you have a fairly defragmented HD:D
