HDD Format Crash

I was formatting a IDE HDD the other night and it got interrupted (big no no, i know) now if i try to reformat it comes back about halfway through and says it can not continue ( at about 50%, the spot it was interrupted)

I was wondering if there is a way to repair this or if it was lost forever?

Try formatting using a bootable disk like GParted.
