on my comp i have 4 hds 1 seagate, 2 maxtors, and one western digital. I have one set on a ide channel on my motherboard and the other two on another ide channel on a pci card.
i though my WD drive was diying it was spinning up randomly and making a clicking sound. I though the HD was dieing until awhile ago i touched the molex connector on the HD and it span up and if i took the pressure of the molex connector the drive clicked so i repeated, same result. Now it was on a y spliter so i just moved it to my cd-rom drives and i put the harddrives on the rail without the faulty splitter and yah no random detection of my HD but now random detection of my cd-rom drives. so i will have to get a new y splitter.
so i was wondering is there a good chance the drive is damaged because of reciving power on and of like that?
