I recently got a hold of my sister's 160GB Hitachi Deskstar HD. It had been crashing whenever they tried to start the computer and they decided to just hand the HD to me. What I originally wanted to do was just delete everything in HD, reformat, and install XP Pro on it. It wouldn't let me do that. It gave me an error message saying that I need the disk that came with the HD inorder to fix the problem. I don't have the disk for it. I wanted to know if I can just manually delete everything in the HD. The question is also how do I do that?

Nubbishly yours,

Plug the hard drive into a computer that has Windows XP. Boot the computer up. Right click on my computer > manage > disk management > right click the drive > format > do a quick format and format it in NTFS.
