HD scan and fix software?

Are there any programs out there which I can boot from on my ibook G4 to scan and possibly fix any HD errors as I think its dieing but I'm not certain

cheers guys, the iBook has run out of battery and I don't have the power cable as I got this off my mum's friend lol so I will try and obtain the cable before the weekend so I can give a good responce
