Hey,

Alright, Ive had my 4870 for a month now and I have always had this problem. When I turn on the computer and monitor, I seem to have a 50/50 chance that it will give me a display on the monitor. If not, I have to turn off the computer by holding down the on/off button which im sure my computer has not been liking, then turn off the PSU for a few secs then back on. Afterwards, the probability seems to go up to like 80/20 that it will work. If not then I just have to try again until it works. Once I get a display, everything works fine.

I was hoping this problem would go away with the updated catalyst drivers, but it did not. I did have a 8800gts before my 4870, but I did a complete reformat on my system so there shouldn't be a trace of the nvidia drivers.

Any help?

Thanks,
darkop

edit:

I looked around and I see some people saying that a nvidia card could have messed up the EDID of the monitor. This is the first time I have even heard of EDID, but it could be my problem since I had a 8800gts before.
