hardware problem while booting

hi all,

my pc takes 4-5 minutes to start.
power is coming into cpu, but it takes some time
to get display.

once it starts,if i tried to restart it will work fine.

i have windows-98 on my system.
i tried to load windows_xp andwhile loading its giving problem unmountable_boot_volume.

i can be able to install winme sucessfully but not xp.

can some body help me in this.
