Started PC and no hdd red light or boot. I tried 3 other working hard drives - all w/no red hdd lights (or boot). The power plug I tried powers up my DVD-ROM. I thought the problem could be power supply but it's probably the mobo, correct? But why wouldn't red hdd light flash if power supply is OK?

I tried different SATA ports and cables and no hdd light or boot. Then I bought a new mobo and I get the same result! I'm at a loss! Is my power supply bad? My DVD-ROMs (2) and fans power up.

Open up the case, power on the computer, put your finger on top and at the bottom.
Make sure you hear it power on, if so check and see if the hdd is functioning.
It can be like making sure its pulling up windows at start.
If none of that works, your only option is to test it elsewhere.
I want you to test it somewhere to make sure it didn't die.
Tell me the drive model number and brand and how long ago did you purchase it.
If its up for RMA service thats where its going early next week.

Did you try different STA power cables as well? Can you feel the HDD spin up at all if you touch the drive? You should feel it vibrate - you may even be able to hear it spin up if you put your ear next to it.
