Default hard drive repair

can you guys share some tips and tricks for hard drive repair
i have about 10-15 of them already piling up(mine and my parents) that i need to start attempting to recover whatever i can
they all have different issues
some click on startup some bang the needles
others dont do anything etc

can you share what programs you use
is it better to use USB interface or sata or is there a diagnostic port that i can use and buy a kit for ?

one of the most recent bangs the needle on startup twice. tried about 3 attempt and stops
not detected by windows

other one doesnt bang teh needle just buzzes and sometimes shows up in my computer sometimes i get access to it sometimes doesnt do anything. that one i had all my camera photos on and want to recover as many as i can
