I recently reformatted my computer and for some reason my hard drive is messing up. So what happens is that I have a temporary hard drive with a capacity of 80 GB and I only filled it with about 20 GB worth of files and music but its saying that I filled about 76 GB and that I only have 550 mb left. I cant even download some of the programs that I need to work.

If you did a reinstall of Windows XP and selected the option {leave as it is and install it will leave a lot of your old stuff on the drive. Look in your C: and see if you see old stuff. If you formatted it should be gone. Is you don't mind doing it again. Put a windows 98 boot disk or dos disk in and boot from it. At the A: type fdisk.
You have an option to show all partitions. You can delete all partitions and make a new Active primary partition and then reboot with your windows XP disk and you should have all your disk back.
