Default hard drive media failure.. help needed

hi ppl.. please help me out..
i have a maxtor 20 gb 5400 rpm hard drive... it stopped working..
nao i have consulted a professional. he says that logic borad and media card of the hard drive are working fine but the media is damaged. and the zero sector of the drive is corrupt.... i also got all of my data on the drive..
can any body help me with what to do and how can i make that hard drive work again??
please help me out..

you can try the freezer trick, then quickly slave the drive to extract info.

the freezer thing is a last ditch effort I thought once you do that its unusable :S maybe Im wrong. buy a cheap 2nd hard drive install xp and see if you can access your old hard drive.
