I have a Toshiba Satellite M15 that I've had for two years now, and the first hard drive eventually failed. I noticed that the failure coincided with when it started to make this noticeable rattling sound.
My new hard drive that I bought is also making this rattling noise, and as a result, I'm really reluctant to save important files on it. I've checked the HDD fitness with Speedfan, but I'm not sure if that's accurate. Is it? Or are there any other programs to check out the status of a hard drive? Also, is there any way to dampen the rattling noise, or am I pretty much stuck with it?
