What is the largest H.D. size windows xp will recognize? I was told if I buy a 250gb hard drive. It wont read that on my computer with windows Xp. I was told If I put a 250 GB in my computer, Windows XP wont say its 250gb.

I believe if you don't have SP2 installed, the limit is 137GB. I could be wrong in this part. But with SP2, it should recognize unlimited. Don't take my word for it though, until someone who knows for sure, confirms.

I think he means the hd is advertised as being 200gb but in actual fact when you plug it in you get 189gb. This is because the marketing values for the number of bytes make a kb and number of kb that make a mb and so on upto terabyte is different to the computers. This is not limited by the perating system though merely because the values are different between marketting and real life so that it seems your paying less for more
