Graphics Driver and Mobo Driver fighting

Ok. I am stymied by some driver issues.

I have a Powercolour ATI 9200SE 256mb graphics card on an
ASUS A7V8X-X motherboard. I can boot up into safe mode but
when I boot in normal mode everything is fine until Windows
autodetects the ATI 9200 graphics card and goes to install the
drivers. As soon as it does that, I loose video signal and the
screen goes blank. I have been fiddling for hours and think it
is a fight between the ASUS 4in1 motherboard drivers and the graphics drivers, but I am not 100% sure.

Can ANYONE suggest a workaround ?
Flash bios ?
New AGP graphics card with Nvidia chipset instead ?
ANYTHING ?

Right now I am using the
Raedon 9250 driver just because the ATI site doesn't have
a 9200 driver anymore and says that the new driver should take care of all raedon products.
