I have a DVDRW GWA 4166B burner. Anytime I burn a file, the buffer meter flucuates and can never hold, making the burn time take longer than usuall. I cant burn at full speed for some reason, it always stays burning at .7X

The drive is listed under DMA too. I cant find a firmware update for it either. Its wierd because when I go to the HP.com site, look for my exact pc model, it list a 4162b burner....

So I was just wondering if anyone knows where I can find a firmware update or a fix to this problem.

Oh 1 more thing, anytime i burn a DVD movie, the damn thing skips like crazy when viewed on any dvd player...

I had buffer problems before too, but it was with Nero and not hardware. Try reinstalling your burning software. As for drivers, I don't think I ever installed any drivers for my dvdrw and it still burns fine.

Yea i thought it was NERO as well, but when i tried alcohol 120%, it still does this. could it be my ASPI layer?

Im using Verbatims DVDr. Im going to reinstall my burning applications and check out the ASPI layer..
